How can you tell if somenone is having a stroke?

Answer:
If a person is experiencing a stroke, it is
important to get them medical help as soon as possible.  In many cases, if the victim receives medical attention within three hours, the effects of the stroke can be reversed.

Permanent injury or death can result from not receiving medical help.

There are three steps to recognizing a stroke.  The easiest way to remember the steps is to think of the acronym S.T.R.

1.  "S"  Ask the person to smile.

2.  "T"  Talk.  Ask the person to say a simple sentence,      such  as, "It's a beautiful day."

3.  "R"  Ask the person to "Raise" both arms.

Another step is to have the person stick their tongue out.  If the tongue goes, uncontrollably, to one side or the other, this is an indication of a stroke.

If the person has trouble performing any one of these three things, you should call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms.
