What is Hyperglycemia?

Answer:
Hyperglycemia means “high glucose in blood”
and is experienced from time to time by all those who have diabetes. It happens when the body has too little or not enough insulin or when the body can’t use what insulin it does have effectively.

If someone has type 1-diabetes they might develop hyperglycemia if they have not been given enough insulin; or if they have type 2-diabetes then it might be as a result of an adequate supply of insulin not being used properly by the body.

Hyperglycemia can also lead to a complex medical condition -- diabetic ketoacidosis and coma -- if not treated adequately and in time.
