What is Radial Keratotomy or RK Eye Surgery?

Answer:
Radial Keratonomy, or RK Eye surgery
is a fairly outdated procedure where radial incisions are placed in the peripheral cornea. This results in a relaxing and flattening of the central cornea.

This procedure was, at one time, the most commonly used surgical procedure for correcting nearsightedness, myopia.  The recovery period for this procedure was very quick, making it even more popular.

Radial Keratonomy is rarely used due to the development of newer, and more effective, procedures like LASIK, LASEK, and PRK.  One of the main drawbacks was that stable results were hard to calculate.
