What are some foods that are high in Carbohydrates?

Answer:
Most athletes understand the importance of carbohydrates
in producing energy for physical activities.  Because of this, most are looking for good sources of both complex and simple carbohydrates in their diets.

Simple carbs are the fun carbs.  Because processed sugars are simple carbohydrates, this is basically desert.  Milk, chocolate milk, ice cream, yogurt, pudding, and candy are all sources of simple carbs.  It's not all unhealthy deserts, though.  Fruits, and fruit juices, are a great simple carb source that is natural and healthy.

Complex carbs are going to come from beans, vegetables, and grains.  Complex carbs are a better source of carbohydrates than simple carbs because they take longer to break down and digest, allowing them to be stored over a longer period of time.  So pound  those mashed potatoes if you have a 10k tomorrow.

If you are looking to "load up" on carbs, then complex carbs are the way to go.  If it is a quick boost of energy that you need, grab a Snickers bar and a glass of milk.
