What is an effective way to achieve weight loss? |

Answer:
I've never been especially big on the term weight loss. The important thing for burning extra body fat is to increase your metabolism. Aerobic exercise such as running and jumping rope can help, but those exercises are better for increasing your cardiopulmonary endurance. The best way to increase your daily metabolism is through high-intensity resistance training. If someone is working out at a high-intensity they are going to be producing lean muscle mass 24 hours a day. This means that the body is burning fat even while you are sleeping. In order to achieve this, while working out, your working sets must be taken to the point of muscular failure(when another rep is no longer possible). A great workout for someone just starting out, is a full body circuit. The workout could be as follows: Leg Press Pull ups or pull downs Rows Bench press Lateral Raises Triceps press downs Biceps curl Calf Raises Or for the more serious lifter Squats Dead Lift Barbell Rows Bench Press Overhead Press Dips Standing Barbell Curl Calf Raises There are a number of variations of the full-body routine. In both of these examples I have started with the larges muscle groups and worked my way down. You would do one set taken to failure of each exercise, with as little rest as possible in between sets. Do this workout on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Keep a workout log with pounds and repetitions for each exercise. Each workout strive to make each set harder and decrease the time in between sets. This will be a great way to kick-start your metabolism and get you on the way to losing more fat. Just remember, you will be building muscle, so the weight loss may not be as significant as you think. Just keep an eye in the mirror and go by what you see, and your progress in the gym.
