What is Body Fat?

Answer:
Body fat is what's left over in a person's
body composition when you take away their bones, muscle, skin, blood, and organs.  A person's body fat percentage is an estimate of how much total body mass is adipose tissue, or fat mass, compared to lean body mass, or LBM.

Body fat is typically what a person is trying to shed when they want to "lose weight".  It usually isn't the weight that is important, but the percentage of that weight that is body fat.

The easiest way for the average person to keep track of their percentage of body fat is with the fat caliper measurement.  The scale can be deceiving when trying to lose body fat.  A body fat measuring device or method is much more accurate.
