What is protein?

Answer:
Protein is a highly complex nitrogenous compound
molecule that can be found in vegetable and animal tissue.  Protein consists of around twenty different amino acids and
is of a relatively high molecular weight.

The uniquely defined amino acid sequence of a protein is what defines it's shape and particular function.

Protein is the main structural component of the bodies tissue.  In order for our cells to grow and repair, protein is necessary.  This is why protein plays such a large role in weight lifting and athletic performance.  The amino acids are essential for the muscles to grow bigger and stronger after workouts and athletic events.  Branched-chain amino acids from a nutrition center or drug store can be used to supplement your diet and help boost muscle growth.
