Does Yoga help arthritis?

Answer:
According to the Johns Hopkins Arthritis Center website,
it is not yet clear whether there are conclusive benefits of Yoga as it relates to arthritis.  Few studies have been done on the subject, though some are currently underway. The studies which have been done do show some promise for Yoga exercises  providing some improvements to joint-health as well as to general physical and emotional wellbeing.

Yoga is an ancient Indian (India) practice of unifying one’s mind, body and spirit and of promoting a sense of connection with one’s surroundings.

Yoga exercises consist of several bodily positions designed to help stretch muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc. which helps circulation flow, which helps general health.  Yoga exercises may also include deep meditation and even chanting, to promote inner unification and wholeness.

Yoga exercises have been shown to reduce stress, and Yoga is thought to be an excellent alternative to traditional, more strenuous exercise techniques, especially for those with limitations such as arthritis.

It might be possible that the real benefits from practicing Yoga are those which help to promote that inner communication and spiritual uplifting, so critical to one’s overall condition.
