Cross training, in sports and fitness, is the combining of multiple styles of exercise in order to work various parts of the body as a whole.

Cross training usually combines resistance sports with endurance sports, creating a more well rounded athlete.  Cross training aims to eliminate any athletic weaknesses a trainee may have.

Cross training is also often referred to in mixed martial arts competition.  In this instance, it refers to the use of multiple styles of self-defense and fighting.  Most mixed martial artists train in boxing, kick-boxing, wrestling, and jujitsuTypically the fighter well versed in all styles is going to have the edge.
