What is blood pressure?

Answer:
Blood pressure refers to the exertion of force
on the walls of blood vessels when blood is pumped from the heart. The systolic pressure (when the blood is pushed into the arteries) and the diastolic
pressure (the pressure when the heart is at rest) are recorded as a ratio, 120/80 for example.

High blood pressure
is a reading of 140/90 or higher. Recent estimates show that nearly one in three adults in America has high blood pressure.  Because there are no real symptoms that occur with high blood pressure, one in three people who have it, don't know it.  Once a person has high blood pressure it usually last a lifetime.  However, it can usually be controlled through proper diet, exercise, and medication.
