What is morbid obesity?

Answer:
According to the National Institutes of Health, when a person weighs 20% more than his or hers ideal body weight, they are considered obese.

When a persons weight becomes such that it significantly increases the risk of one or more obesity-related diseases or health issues, that person is considered to have morbid-obesity.

There are 97 million people in the United States that are considered overweight or obese, that’s one-third of the population.  Of those, 5-19 million are considered morbidly obese.  Morbid obesity is a chronic disease, that’s symptoms build slowly over time.
