How do I know if I'm a good candidate for LASIK?

Answer:
There are a number of factors a surgeon will
look at when determining whether a patient is a good candidate for LASIK, such as the health of the eyes and what kind of vision correction is needed.

A good candidate for LASIK is a patient who suffers with short-sightedness, long-sightedness, or astigmatism (or a combination -- astigmatism and short-sightedness or long-sightedness); is over 18 years of age and has had a stable contacts or glasses prescription for at least two years; is not on any medication that would slow wound-healing; and has sufficiently thick corneas and appropriately-sized pupils.

There are some health conditions that disqualify a patient from undergoing LASIK surgery, while other conditions might necessitate in surgery being postponed to a later date.
