What are the risks associated with LASIK?

Answer:
With LASIK eye surgery there’s a risk
of overcorrection and under-correction of vision which may require further surgery in extreme cases although mild cases can usually be addressed by wearing glasses.

There’s also the risk that the surgical flap created on the cornea during the procedure may become damaged, displaced, or distorted during the healing process.

As with any surgery, there’s also the risk of infection, which if left untreated can result in scarring on the cornea or permanent loss of vision. Antibiotic eye drops are usually prescribed after surgery to help prevent infection and patients should schedule regular post-op visits to ensure that their eyes are healing properly.
