What is biomedical research?

Answer:
Biomedical research is research that is used to discover and evaluate new medical procedures.

Biomedical research has been essential in extending the lifespan of human beings
Biomedical research will continue to be an essential factor in advancing medical capabilities.  Certain hospitals, called "academic medical centers", are staffed with doctors who are also researchers and educators, with these doctors developing and using advanced medical procedures at the same hospital they treat patients in.

Biomedical research also helps determine if drugs are safe for consumption.  These drugs are developed and tested in a laboratory then given to healthy volunteers in clinical trials to test their effects on humans.  The results of these tests then determine if the drugs should be marketed for use by consumers.
