What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Answer:
In laser skin resurfacing, damaged or wrinkled
skin is removed, layer by layer, with a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser. It is most commonly used to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines in skin around the eyes and mouth. It is also used to treat facial scars and areas of uneven pigmentation.

The laser is a beam of light radiation that delivers intense energy to specific areas of skin destroying the surface layer and exposing the lower layer (the dermis) which is then heated at a lower level stimulating the new growth of collagen fibers. As the new skin forms it’s smoother and less wrinkled. Laser skin resurfacing can be used to treat all of the face or just specific parts.
