What is Liposuction or a Lipectomy?

Answer:
Lipectomy or liposuction is a cosmetic procedure
in which areas of excess fat are removed from beneath the skin using a suction pump device inserted through a small incision.

The suction-pump device used to remove the deposits is either a cannula (a hollow pen-like instrument) or an ultrasonic probe that breaks the fat into small pieces which are then removed with suction.

Liposuction is performed on the abdomen, hips, thighs, calves, arms, buttocks, back, neck, or face. It can also be used to reduce breast size in men who suffer with gynecomastia (large breasts). Liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss but a procedure for reshaping the body.
