What is glutamine?

Answer:
Glutamine is one of the 20 amino acids and is
the most abundant amino acid found in human muscle and plasma.  Glutamine can be found in foods that are high in protein such as read meat, fish, beans, and nuts.

Glutamine helps with things as maintaining muscle mass, mental function, and the control of blood sugar levels.

Glutamine, as a supplement, is considered a muscle enhancer, and is used by bodybuilders.  It is also known as a "brain food" because it enhances mental function.  When the body's glutamine becomes depleted stamina, strength, and recovery can suffer.

On average, a well balanced diet can provide anywhere from 5 to 8 grams of glutamine a day.
