What is Potassium?

Answer:
Potassium is a natural chemical element, with
atomic number 19, and symbol "K".  Although it is the seventh most plentiful element, it is difficult to extract or isolate from the compounds it is found in.

Potassium is never found as a stand-alone, or "free" element in Nature; because it reacts with water in violent ways.  Potassium is always found as part of a compound material.

Potassium is important to help keep muscles and nerves  working as they should.  In the body, potassium acts to monitor water; to help ensure it is in the correct amount for healthy tissue.

Potassium can be found in a variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, beans, and more.  Some examples are:
    * bananas
    * citrus fruits, like oranges
    * dried fruits
    * beans, peas, lentils, peanuts
    * broccoli
    * leafy green vegetables
    * potatoes with skins
    * tomatoes

Always consult with your health professional regarding the use of Potassium or other supplements for minerals, vitamins, and the like.

Potassium is a dietary mineral that is generally quite abundant in most people's diets, so most healthy people get plenty from their diets. Due to illness, however, some people need to restrict their dietary potassium intake and some people may actually need to increase their intake. If you have any questions about your potassium levels, please speak to your doctor.Bananas are a great source of potassium.

it's great but according to me,Potassium is a mineral essential to maintain proper health. On the Periodic Table of the Elements, Potassium has the atomic number of 19 and atomic symbol of K. It was first isolated by Sir Humphry Davy in 1807. It is a soft metal that can easily be cut by a knife. Potassium is one of the most highly reactive metals and rarely used alone. However, combined with many other elements, such as sodium or chloride, it forms compounds which can be found in many common items such as glass, soap, and fertilizer.

Potassium is probably best known as an important nutrient. It can be found in a variety of foods from bananas, apples, broccoli and peas, to whole grains, nuts, flounder, and salmon. Potassium, one of the main electrolytes, is an essential element in the basic, everyday workings of the body. It plays a role in muscle growth and contractions, nerve cell function, and protein synthesis. Along with another eloctrolyte, sodium, it also helps to to regulate the water balance in and outside of the cell.
