Selenium is considered a semi-metallic element, and some forms of selenium are excellent conductors of light; making it useful in certain photography processes and products. Selenium is also used in some industrial processes; such as making glass, brass, and vulcanized rubber. Selenium also acts as a catalyst in a variety of chemical and laboratory tests and procedures.
