What are Triceps?

Answer:
Triceps is a term that can refer to any muscle
group with three points of origin.  When people refer to "the" triceps, they are typically talking about the muscles of the back of the upper arm.

This is the counter muscle group to the biceps, or front of the upper arm.  In a well developed arm, the triceps usually comprise about two thirds of the overall arm mass.

The three heads that make up the triceps are called the long head, the lateral head, and the medial head.  The main function of these muscles is to straiten the arm, or extend the elbow.
