What does Ripped mean?

Answer:
When someone refers to someone as being ripped,
they typically mean that the person has a lot of muscle mass, along with having a low body fat percentage.  Most bodybuilders work to build bulk in the early phases of their training.

This will consist of eating a lot and lifting very heavy weights.  It is also commonly known that most competitive bodybuilders are doing cycles of steroids during this period.

After the desired amount of bulk has been obtained, the bodybuilder will enter what is known as a "cutting" phase.  During this period dieting is used to lose body fat, and training becomes more body part specific in order to refine the physique.  This is the point at which the bodybuilder becomes ripped.

I have used the example of the bodybuilder to describe the process of becoming ripped.  However, one does not have to be a bodybuilder to be ripped.  If you have a decent amount of muscle mass, and are in good enough shape to have low body fat, you may be considered ripped.
