What is a good Triceps workout?

Answer:
When I'm working the triceps, or just about
any muscle group, I like to perform an isolation movement (single joint) followed by a compound movement (multi-joint).  This is also known as a superset and is a great way to stress the full function of the target muscles.

For the triceps, begin with a triceps press down or skull crushers as the isolation movement.  Once you have reached the point of failure move quickly to a compound exercise like close grip bench press or dips and perform a set to failure.

On the isolation movement, use a weight that will allow 8 to 10 reps, and 3 to 6 reps on the compound movement.  The isolation movement pre-exhausts the triceps so that the compound movement targets the triceps with the help of the deltoids and pecs.
