What is power lifting?

Answer:
Power lifting a is term used to describe a style
of lifting that requires the use of heavier lifts on certain exercises.  The lifts included are typically Olympic style lifts such as the bench press, dead lift, squat, and
clean and jerk.

The lifter will typically pyramid their sets by using progressively heavier weights until they reach a one repetition lift, using the heaviest weight that they can manage.

Power lifting tends to create more bulk in and individual, rather than toned musculature.  It can also be very dangerous due to the poundage being lifted.  For this reason, power lifters work out in groups of two or three.  With three people, for instance, a lifter can do a max rep bench press with spotters at both ends of the bar.
